IOWA CITY — Hello from Kinnick Stadium, where Iowa football is set to host its annual open practice to conclude the spring schedule.

Saturday’s event is always a highly anticipated one, with Iowa fans getting one full glimpse of the team ahead before the summer offseason commences. With new offensive coordinator Tim Lester in the fold hoping to revitalize the Hawkeyes’ offense, this open practice could provide a few clues on how that transition might go.

The Register’s Chad Leistikow, Tyler Tachman and Dargan Southard are live on the scene in Iowa City and will provide commentary and analysis throughout the day. Follow them and keep it locked on the HawkCentral live blog for all kinds of updates from Saturday’s open practice.

12:31 p.m. - A long Terrell Washington Jr. TD run puts a nice capper on this one.

Postgame interviews coming shortly.

12:26 p.m. - Two-minute drill underway to wrap this up.

Iowa with 3rd-and-8 from its own 40-yard line with 39 seconds left. Hawkeyes trying to get into field goal range.

12:18 p.m. - Jaxon Rexroth forces yet another turnover.

That's at least four or five interceptions thrown by Iowa quarterbacks today.

12:17 p.m. - Cooper DeJean in the house doing a little coaching.

12:10 p .m. - Cael Vanderbush says hello.

Nice running grab on a perfectly executed RPO that had the Iowa sophomore tight end wide open behind the defense. It's not been the best day for Iowa's QBs, but that was a rare bright spot.

11:57 a.m. - Drew Stevens having a good day.

And in unfriendly kicking conditions too. He connects from 50-plus after the Deacon Hill passing TD.

11:55 a.m. - We have a TD.

Deacon Hill to Kaden Wetjen for six. First TD pass from the QB today.

11:45 a.m. - Nice PBU from Sebastian Castro.

11:30 a.m. - Marco Lainez slinging it early.

11:24 - Karson with a K.

Karson Sharar intercepts Deacon Hill in 11-on-11 from the 30-yard line. You can hear the groans from here.

11:20 a.m. - Red-zone shenanigans.

Jaz Patterson fumbles. Marco Lainez escapes the pocket for an elusive run. Each kicker attempts two more short field goals: Tripp Woody went 1/2. Drew Stevens drilled both.

11:17 a.m. - Kicking time.

Drew Stevens ends a red-zone possession with a short field goal from the left hash. Drills it from the right hash too. Tripp Woody connects on his attempt as well from the left hash, but gets his attempt partially blocked from the right hash.

11:14 a.m. - And we're waving.

Now moving to 11-on-11.

11:07 a.m. - Deacon Hill looked decent in 7-on-7.

11:05 a.m. - Cade McNamara update

Iowa's injured starting QB is in pads but very limited in participation. Throwing flat-footed until his ACL is fully healed. He's not doing any 7-on-7 drills either right now.

11 a.m. - These Hawkeyes aren't participating in today's open practice.

  • Logan Jones
  • Addison Ostrenga
  • Gennings Dunker
  • Seth Anderson
  • Leshon Williams
  • Kyler Fisher
  • Jermari Harris
  • Yahya Black
  • Koen Entringer

10:45 a.m. - Underway at Kinnick Stadium.

Deacon Hill under center.

10:42 a.m. - And we're punting.

About to get going here as punting pregame drills just wrapped up. Some diehards braving the weather in the stands facing the hospital.

10:15 a.m. - It's cold.

Well, considering it's April 20th at least. Windy and chilly inside Kinnick Stadium. The kickers are out getting a nice November practice.
